Some Common Drainage Issues.

  • Sewer Drains
Many people are unaware what is connected to a sewer drain. The toilet is the most obvious fixture that connects to the sewer line, but that’s not the only thing in your bathroom. All fixtures in your bathroom connect to the sewer line including the shower. Your laundry and kitchen fixtures also connect to the sewer line. A blocked or broken sewer pipe can cause raw sewage to flood inside your house or commercial building which can be a major health hazard. The most common blockages occur from tree roots, foreign objects or old & damaged pipework.
  • Storm Water Drains
When it rains all of your roof and surface water connect to your storm water drains. These drains are extremely important as it collects and removes the rain water from your property. A blocked or broken storm water pipe can cause flooding in and around your house or commercial property. This can also cause roof leaks and foundation issues. The most common blockages occur from tree roots, dirt & leaves or old & damaged pipe work.

Hot Water Systems

If you are having troubles with your hot water system or it is old and beginning to fail, Taren Point Plumbing can help you. Our team of plumbers are experienced, trained and licenced with a minimum of 25 years experience to carry out all hot water repairs and installations.

Looking to change your hot water system?
Choosing the right system for your home can be tricky and we’ve often seen insufficient systems being installed and having to be replaced. Using our technical knowledge, we can guide you to choosing the right system for your home or business.

Whether its Gas, Electric or Solar hot water you
require, we have you covered.

GAS Storage & INSTANTANEOUS HOT WATER SYSTEMS
Gas storage & instantaneous hot water heaters can offer several benefits to the user such as excellent energy efficiency, which can cut running costs saving you money. The instantaneous gas hot water systems not only save you on running costs, but you can also save on installation and maintenance. With a gas hot water heater, water is heated instantaneously only when required this makes it one of the most economical options on the market.

SOLAR HOT WATER INSTALLATION
Solar hot water heaters are relatively simple to install and are a great option for hot water. The solar panel is installed neatly on your roof to absorb the light energy, then connections are made to your water pipes, with the installation of a storage cylinder. Let Taren Point Plumbing help cut costs for you and live an eco-friendly lifestyle by installing a solar water heater system.

ELECTRIC HOT WATER SYSTEMS
Electric hot water systems are largely used in apartments and homes in Sydney where gas and solar systems are not feasible. The electric hot water systems are not as energy efficient as the solar and gas systems although they are still a popular choice among many homeowners. With gas water heaters, the main problem is space. Gas can be dangerous, and the system needs to have sufficient space around it to meet with safety requirements, where an electric hot water tank can be installed in confined spaces, even under your kitchen sink, without the risk of a gas build up.

  • Hissing or whistling sounds coming from a gas appliance
  • Higher than normal gas bills for no apparent reason
  • No hot water – if you have a gas continuous flow or gas storage hot water heater
  • Patches of drying grass and bubbling water on your exterior property could indicate an underground gas leak.

If you suspect a gas leak, it is strongly recommended that you turn off all of your gas and electricity appliances and open all doors and windows to adequately ventilate the area. Move to a safe area, outside which is well-ventilated and contact us immediately on 0439 437 407.

Important Information:
Gas is an extremely hazardous substance and any types of gas fitting should be conducted by a fully qualified and licensed gas fitter. Attempting to install, repair or replace a gas appliance yourself, or using an unlicensed contractor, is not only illegal but could pose serious health and safety risks upon your property and the residents within, as well as void the gas appliance warranty and possibly cause dismissal of any future required insurance claims. Why risk it? Take the hassle out of any gas fitting requirement on your property by contacting Taren Point Plumbing on 0439 437 407. We are available 7 days a week.

Leaking Taps

Leaking taps and toilets are not only annoying but they are a huge waste of water.

If it’s a hot leaking tap then its also increasing your energy bills month on month as well as your water bills.

Leaking taps, shower heads and toilets are a common occurrence and should be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to help save water and to stop your water and energy bills from rising.

What causes a leaking tap?

In most cases a worn out washer is the cause of a dripping tap. Taren Point Plumbing will correctly identify the cause of a leaking tap to reduce the likelihood of the problem from re-occurring.

Other reasons for a leaking tap may include;

  • Seals– due to continuous use the inlet and outlet seals can wear out over time.
  • The O-ring– this is a small moving disc that is attached to the stem screw and is used to hold the handle of the faucet in place. Over time the O-ring can become loose causing dripping near the faucet handle.
  • Cartridge– If your mixer tap is leaking the cartridge most likely needs to be replaced.
  • Valve seat– the valve seat connects the faucet and the spout as a compression mechanism. Accumulation of sediment can cause the valve seat to corrode which will cause leaking around the spout.
  • Older tapware–If your tapware is old a replacement may be recommended over a repair, as the repair will only fix the dripping temporarily.
  • High water pressure– If your tap only seems to drip at certain times during the day your water pressure may be too high. A water flow restrictor can help to reduce your water pressure slightly to stop that dripping tap.

If your dripping tap is keeping you up at night call Taren Point Plumbing for a reliable and affordable leaking tap repair or replacement service. We will provide you with a full tap service, which includes installing a new quality washer or cartridge, replacing and lubricating the O-rings, re-seating the tap and re-greasing the spindle threads. This will ensure that you get the maximum efficiency from your taps and should eliminate the problem from re-occurring any time soon.
